BOSTON, MA - This Tuesday, May 26th, starting at 4 pm, before the final public budget hearing with city council, hundreds of Boston residents are expected to turn out in front of city hall, calling to restore the budget cuts slashing youth jobs, housing, food, and immigration and elder support grants.
WHEN AND WHERE: Tuesday, May 26th, 4pm-6pm in front of Boston City Hall
WHAT: Mass rally of community-based organizations, civic leaders, and residents to call on City Hall to reject Mayor Wu’s proposed budget cuts, increase the budget and restore the cuts via the council’s new amendment powers. Speakers from Heal the Hood, The Food Project, The Boston People’s Response and more.
WHO: More than 17 organizations have signed on to co-sponsor this action, including the Better Budget Alliance, Youth Justice for Power Union, Massachusetts Voter Table and more.
AUDIO AND VISUALS: A diverse crowd of hundreds of residents with colorful signs, chants and compelling speeches about the cost of cuts to housing, immigration support, youth jobs and other core community needs.
